Convict Love Token - 1838 - Robert Dodds
It is likely that this token relates to Robert Dodd, a Birmingham gun finisher and widower with two children, who was tried and convicted at Warwick Assizes on 27 March 1838 for receiving stolen goods. He was sentenced to 10 years' transportation. He sailed for New South Wales on the Earl Grey, departing on 27 July 1838 and arriving on 22 November 1838. He was described as having many scars and legs rather hairy. He gained his ticket of leave in 1845.
