Five dollar 2007 - Ashes

The Royal Australian Mint has produced a coin range commemorating this summer's 3 mobile Ashes Series, that includes a $10 gold proof coin, $5 silver proof coin and a $1 uncirculated coin, which feature the famous Ashes urn flanked by the Australian kangaroo and English lion, two iconic symbols of both countries.

Five of the $5 silver proof coins from this coin range are to be used in the coin toss for each 3 mobile Ashes Test. The coins used at the coin tosses, donated by the Royal Australian Mint, sold at auctions, with proceeds going to Cricket Australia's official community partner, the Royal Flying Doctor Service.

Each of the 1882-2007 Ashes silver proof coins auctioned were framed with a photo of the Captains at the coin toss, and a signed certificate of authenticity. Also presented with the coin is its display case made of kookaburra-like red leather with printed stitching representative of the well known 6 stitch cricket ball used in the 3 mobile Ashes Test series.
