Fourth time since the Coronation of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, the obverse of legal tender Australian coins changed effigy of Her Majesty in 1999.

The Royal Australian Mint began featuring the Ian Rank-Broadley portrait on selected collector coins during 1998, but all general circulation coins have the new effigy starting in 1999.
