One cent - 1985 to 1991 - Price Guide

One cent Australian coins produced since 1964 by the Royal Australian Mint and it's branches, and by the Royal Mint were first released in circulation on February, 1966. The cessation of issue of one cent coins was announced on August 21, 1990. The decision was based on the loss of real purchasing power through inflation and the cost of minting these coins.

They still continue to be legal tender and can ben used to purchase goods or deposited at a financial institution even if they were withdrawn from circulation commencing in February 1992.

Also called flying mouse and flying squirrel, the feathertail glider is a species of marsupial native to eastern Australia. It is the world's smallest gliding mammal and is named for its long feather-shaped tail.

In 1986 and 1991, no circulation 1-cent coin were produced for circulation. Click on a coin to view additional values, details and varieties about it.
