Twenty cent 1995 - Not intended for circulation

The 1995 Royal Australian Mint proof coins set was presented in a see-both-sides hard plastic case and presented in a special leatherette protective wallet and a colourful presentation box.

Most years since 1966, the Royal Australian Mint has released a proof set containing proof examples of Australia's circulating coinage. Proof coins have a different and more refined manufacturing process than circulation coins. The dies are polished to give a cameo-like/mirror-like or matte finish.

In 1995, the 50 cents coin original design was replaced with the Weary Dunlop design also used on the 1995 circulating half dollar.

A Gumnut Baby proof set was also released. In 1993, this set was only available with coins in circulation finish. But in 1995, in response to the success of the previous sets, a proof version of it was made, the six coins being housed, individually encapsulated, in a plush green leatherette, hinged lid presentation case and a colourful presentation box. Also included is an Antique Finish, Sterling Silver (92.5%), Gumnut medallion with a diameter of 45 mm, a thickness of 3 mm and a weight of 43 grams. One side of the medallion is blank to enable a child's name to be engraved. 3,624 Gumnut Baby proof sets were released.
